THANK YOU to all members, friends, rail preservationists and anyone who contributed time and or dollars to the "fix the slide" fund these past few months, Your hard work and contributions has made possible the completion of repairs to the problems caused by the storms of last winter. We are wrapping up the repairs by the weekend of the 14th. All in all over 500 yards of fill (rock, boulders, dirt, and gravel were hauled in ties and track put back in place. It has been a long haul but a very worthwhile endeavor. So once again THANK YOU!

Due to the covid-19 pandemic, all "Rides for the Public" at Lane's Station in Ione and April 25th "History Run" are cancelled until further notice. The remaining runs for the year will be decided upon as we find out how severe a risk this virus becomes. We are truly sorry to have to do this but we feel that we must provide a safe and healthy environment for our riders. Thank you for your understanding and your interest in the Amador Central Railroad. Take care and stay healthy.

Spring Flower Run on the Amador Central

May 1st. 2021

Amador County has just gone back up to the Red Tier and the Amador County Health Department will once again be allowing us to go ahead and hold a PRIVATE, family motorcar excursion on the AMC providing we adhere to the strict rules concerning the Covid 19 pandemic.

The run date is scheduled for Saturday, MAY 1ST, and we will be doing a run from Bryant Station in Ione up to Martel and return for lunch at Bryant and then do another run to the top and back.

Our members Chuck and Marika Ratto will be serving their famous

Hot Dog Specials at their very fair low price at lunch time while using approved Covid 19 handling procedures to provide safe and sanitary conditions.

Social distancing must also be practiced at all times. Wearing a mask while out of your motor car will also be a requirement.

Set on will take place starting at 7:00 a.m. on the 1st. with a safety meeting at 8:30 and departure from Bryant following the meeting.

When you arrive at Bryant Station, please remain in your automobiles until given further instructions for setting on.

Run fee is $50.00 for the two runs and checks are to be made out to RRCHS. Please send the check to me directly if you will be attending and I will send you the necessary forms you can print out, including a new NARCOA and AMC Covid 19 waiver along with any further details.

Thanks and hope you can make it!

Welcome to the Recreational Railroad Coalition Historical Society website.

Recreational Railroad Coalition Historical Society, a 501 C3, ID # 20-5605660, was founded with the preservation of old railroads as their primary goal with a secondary goal of using the railroads preserved for educational, and recreational railroad activities. To this end we were very fortunate to be able to lease the old Amador Central Railroad operated by Sierra Pacific Industries for several years during which time we maintained the rails, signals, and even reinstalled the back leg of the wye which had been removed many years prior. We developed an annual event called the Ione Rail Fair to make the money necessary to keep these old rails active not with regular train service but using vintage railroad maintenance of way equipment called motorcars. We also operated the Linden branch of the Stockton Terminal and Eastern Railroad for several years. In 2010, Sierra Pacific Industries offered to sell the railroad to RRCHS and the Amador County Historical Society for one dollar. Both organizations saw the opportunity to join forces and preserve these historic and scenic rails for the future generations of Amador County residents and all those that come up to ride and see the magnificent scenery of this (now) 10 mile railroad.

RRCHS is an all volunteer group with a membership that continues to grow. It is governed by a Board of Directors who oversee its operation. If you wish to join us please complete the application that can be found HERE and send it along with your dues to our membership secretary. Come up and see us at work on our railroad along with our partners the ACHS.
